How Do We Choose Which Stories To Tell

by | Sep 21, 2022 | films, Parks

How do we choose what stories to tell and what cities to film in? It’s a combination of thinking big and thinking small. As we are subject driven as opposed to focused on specific cities, we identify key issues that affect every city such as housing, parks, transportation, the economy, the environment, anchor institutions and social challenges.

We are always looking for compelling stories in each subject area that illustrate how people are working together, often with local government, civic organizations and philanthropy, to have a positive impact on their communities.

We choose three related stories in three different cities to compare experiences (good and bad) and aim for geographic diversity to give you a sense of what is happening across North America.

For example, we filmed a New York High Line preview video and plan to add Atlanta’s BeltLine and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail to the actual series segment on urban trails. These three projects show how urban trails revitalize cities in different ways, and comparing their experiences is at the heart of what we do.

After watching Saving the City, you will never look at cities in the same way again.  And we hope you will be inspired to act and encourage others to act to make a difference in your local communities.

Check out our work and let us know what you think, suggest stories and introduce us to people we should know about.
